About Artwork
Between Roots and Noise: Tracing the Entangled explores mangrove forest as living systems that exist between natural ecosystems and urban environments. It emerges from an attempt to shift perspectives-from viewing mangroves solely as environmental infrastructure that protect the coast to experiencing them as living entities within a shared ecological system that is increasingly shaped by human activity. This body of work does not seek to aestheticize the environment, but to remain within its encountered visual and sonic conditions, attending to the relations, responses, and resonance through which these systems exist.
Through audio-visual recordings, photography, and digital collage, the project traces the sensory and structural complexity of mangrove ecosystem within urban context of Jakarta.
Mesha is a multidisciplinary creative from Indonesia. She was initially trained as an art therapist and later pursued a graduate degree in Arts and Cultural Entrepreneurship in Singapore, which led her to develop a practice spanning in artistic creation, curatorial work, and exhibition-making. While her engagement with art has evolved alongside other professional directions, she is currently re-centering her focus on artistic practice, with a particular interest in exploring the human condition and the natural world.
