The film from the reflection of selections from the Taoist philosophy, expressing a positive nihilistic attitude towards life with looking at the world from a new perspective by questioning the system of judging things and humans, exploring sign language and communication, and communication may be unattainable.

The final narration of the film is from a medieval Chinese pronunciation.

《及時雨與無用之木》源自於對道家哲學《逍遙遊》中選段的回應，表達對事物、對人的評判體系的質疑，在另一視角中重新看待世界；探索手語與溝通，及溝通的或許不可達成。影片最後的旁白來自中古時期的中文發音。

「今子有大樹，患其無用，何不樹之於無何有之鄉，廣莫之野，徬徨乎無為其側，逍遙乎寢臥其下。不夭斤斧，物無害者，無所可用，安所困苦哉。」

Light Up Faraway Mountain is inspired by the artist’s experience of life, death and hope. This project explores futility, absurdity, and uncertainty through research of performance, public installation and art intervention in natural spaces, using experimental film and documentary archives to express the process of attempting, and hopefully pass on to those in the doldrums the hope that is still to be pursued in the depths of despair. It represents the light and hope in the distance, to realize the meaning of life across the difficulties.

《點亮遠山》靈感來自藝術家對於生命、死亡與希望的真實體驗。這個計畫探討徒勞、荒謬與不確定性，透過對行為藝術、公共裝置、自然空間的藝術介入、地理心理學的研究，融合以實驗影像和紀錄檔案的形式表現，目的是為了表達一個嘗試與追逐希望的過程，希望能把一份深處絕境時仍然要追尋的希望傳遞給在低谷中的人們。這代表在孤獨中遠方的光亮與希望，跨越困難去實現生命的意義。

DING LING is an independent artist and director, with a double masters degree in Contemporary Art Practice and Information Experience Design from the Royal College of Art.

Ding’s work focuses on the emotional tension evoked by the authentic and fluid experiences of life. Her artistic practice and research encompass Time-based Media, including film, video art, performance, theatre, installation, etc.

Ding’s works have been exhibited at the Tate Modern, London; Pioneer sound venue Iklectik Lab; UP-ON International Live Art Festival; Aranya Theatre Festival; New Youth Experimental Art Biennale and Shanghai Westbund Theatre. She was selected for the 2025 Al-Tiba9 Directory for International Contemporary Artists.

丁澪是一位獨立藝術家、導演與寫作者，雙碩士畢業於英國皇家藝術學院當代藝術實踐與資訊體驗設計。丁澪的作品關注真實而流動的生命感受幻化出的情感張力，涵蓋影像、錄像藝術、行為表演、劇場、裝置等以時基媒體為核心表現形式的藝術實踐與研究。

丁澪作品曾展出於倫敦 Tate Modern 泰特現代美術館、先鋒實驗音樂場地 Iklectik Lab、阿那亞戲劇節候鳥 300 (倫敦)、新青年實驗藝術雙年展 (陶溪美術館)、UP-ON 向上國際現場藝術節 (成都A4美術館)、上海西岸大劇院等；獲選2025 年度 AI-Tiba9 國際當代藝術家名錄。
