The Kunsthaus will also be participating in Open Monument Day in 2024. The museum and sculpture garden are open from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. The Kunsthaus offers a diverse program for art and architecture enthusiasts, families, regular visitors, and curious visitors. Admission is free.

Das Kunsthaus nimmt auch 2024 am Tag des offenen Denkmals teil. Das Haus und der Skulpturengarten sind von 11-17 Uhr geöffnet. Für Kunst- und Architekturinteressierte, Familien, Stammgäste wie neugierige Schnuppergäste bietet das Kunsthaus ein vielseitiges Programm. Der Eintritt ist frei.

Food as Cultural Landscape

Scents are triggers for memories, leading our thoughts to specific times and places, and creating connections between us, as our sense of smell is directly linked to the emotional center of our brain. We would like to create new and old memories with you: by introducing the scents of oriental tea and Mid-Autumn sweets from Taiwanese and Chinese traditions. Together, we will share our life experiences and memories.

Düfte sind Auslöser für Erinnerungen, führen unsere Gedanken zu bestimmten Zeiten und Orten und stellen Verbindungen zwischen uns her, da unser Geruchsinn direkt mit dem Emotionszentrum unseres Gehirns verbunden ist. Wir möchten gemeinsam  mit Ihnen neue und alte Erinnerungen einprägen: Durch die Vorstellung von Düften orientalischen Tees und Mittsommer-Süßigkeiten aus Taiwanesischer und Chinesischer Tradition. Zusammen tauschen wir unsere Lebenserfahrungen und Erinnerungen aus.

Yipei Lee has crafted unique dessert fillings inspired by her experience.

The dessert is stamped with the German word “Erinnerung”—meaning “memory”—symbolizing the act of unlocking forgotten recollections. Through scent and taste, these memories are reawakened, preserved, and carried forward.

In Chinese culture, the mooncake holds deep symbolic meaning. During the Mid-Autumn Festival, the moon is at its fullest and brightest, and its round shape mirrors the mooncake itself—signifying reunion and togetherness. Traditionally eaten during the autumn harvest, the mooncake’s fillings (such as lotus seed paste, mixed nuts, or salted egg yolk) also reflect the cycles of nature and humanity’s attunement to seasonal change.

For migrants and diasporic Chinese communities, the mooncake becomes an edible memory—a tangible link to heritage, home, and a shared sense of identity across distances.
