As fire marked the starting point of human civilization, technology has accelerated the exploration of creative dimensions. Have you ever thought about what the world will look like in 2050? Technological innovation continuously reshapes the definition of human beings and fundamentally changes the formulation through which we understand the world.
The digital exhibition titled ‘Transcendence – Beyond Boundaries,’ featured at the ‘2050: Where Science and Technology Bring Young People Together,’ showcases three artworks offering unique perspectives through scientific observation of the universe, artificial intelligence, and CG development. Immersing ourselves in these narratives allows us to experience a diverse world, from the macro to the micro, revealing uncertainties beyond the boundaries of human knowledge, extending speculations on natural seasons, and prompting inner reflections on the technology era.
Technology shapes our ways of exploring the world. Each of us contributes fragments, mapping our understanding. It’s crucial to be aware of the role technology plays in our lives, evaluating its impact as we collectively embrace and adopt it into our daily routines.
Today’s world has evolved with the integration of human-computer interaction. Data, CPUs, and curiosity lead us to a multifaceted interpretation of imagination, reality, and symbolism. Our world undergoes constant dialectical challenges, and reflecting on the virtual world allows us to complement the realistic, spiritual definition of artificial landscapes.
What does nature mean to us?
Through artistic interpretation and layer-by-layer exploration of the virtual world, the exhibition unfolds the diversity of scientific understanding, reflecting on the universe’s past and the future of mankind. It reminds us of the meaning of ‘life’ and prompts us to redefine our position in the vast, borderless galaxy. How do we understand the relationship between human beings and the natural ecology?
The Archeology of Light|LASTRO at EPFL (SW)
This is a journey across 93 billion light years of spacetime, starting from our earth, the solar system, to billions of objects on the sky and a whole simulated Universe. Come here! We will help you grasp this world.
Fifth Season|Celyn Bricker (UK)
The Fifth Season is exploring the relationship between artificial intelligence, the seasons, and our changing climate. In this piece, machine learning was used to create an abstract impression of the seasons, based on a dataset that mixed photographs of the four seasons together. The idea of the ‘fifth season’ refers to the new seasons that might emerge as a result of a changing climate, whilst also referencing technology: discussions of artificial intelligence often talk about progress in terms of the seasons (‘AI winter’ or ‘AI summer’ as an example). At the current pace of change in both the climate and technology, we are moving into an entirely new reality. The piece is accompanied by an AI generated musical piece, reinterpreting the ‘Four Seasons’ of Antonio Vivaldi to create a new, ’fifth season’.
Neo Nirvana|Tung Monkey & Dustin Ngo (VN)
“Neo Nirvana” is a profound journey of rebirth, exploring the eternal presence of Nirvana within us. This unique exhibition encourages us to rediscover our true selves and embrace the renewal of spirit and mind.
Utilizing light, sound, and other visual elements, Tung Monkey has designed the show as a race back to the inception of existence, a quest to rediscover oneself to reaffirm and regenerate our true essence.
Dive into a transformative experience where we reconnect with our inner child, symbolizing purity and innocence, returning us to the origins of life where all explorations and understandings commence. Don’t miss this immersive experience of art and introspection—reawaken the dormant child within and find your Nirvana.
