SUAVEART concentrates on the cultural value between art and life. Presenting the stories and issues related to “art, life and island”. Creating the borderless dialogues that can be found everywhere in our daily life.

SUAVEART,a research-based curatorial institution, focuses on environmental, nonhuman perspectives, and nonplace issues within island contexts, exploring the intersection of art, science and life. Its earliest form began in 2008, with long-term engagement in Southeast Asian exchanges. Formally established in 2015 in Taiwan and has since concentrated on cross-cultural and transnational collaborations through exhibitions, cultural research, artist residencies, workshops, forums, and other multidisciplinary programs. SUAVEART is currently a member of international initiatives concerned with climate change, ecological environments, and cultural heritage, including the pan-European heritage alliance Europa Nostra, Climate Heritage Network and the Preserving Legacies network community.

SUAVEART is committed to fostering cultural diversity and cultivating interdisciplinary creativity. Through methods that move beyond traditional boundaries, we aim to contribute to innovation within the field and to broader social progress. Our core services and outputs include artworks, publications, cultural research, curatorial and event production for exhibitions and performances, building ecological linkages, and sustaining an arts-centered community. Over the years, SUAVEART has been a pioneer in exploring and expanding the contemporary art industry through experimentation and iterative practices.

Through distinctive approach involves conceptual design and experimental projects for the arts community, SUAVEART advances dialogue between local and international networks. Our work engages with nature-based approaches, participatory art, contemporary art discourse, and cross-disciplinary scientific-cultural practice. From Taiwan outward, we look toward building international communities to collectively write the history of art and culture.

Key Moments & Ongoing Practices
* 2017 — Learning Responsibility Through the Field
Participation in the Batik Story Project in Surabaya, Indonesia—hosted by the Total Museum of Contemporary Art in Seoul—deepened our understanding of social responsibility and sustainable art-making. This experience later inspired SUAVEART’s field research trip to the Leuser Ecosystem in North Sumatra. Titled Seeding Future – Tropical Rainforest Research, the project centered on deforestation, sustainability, social justice, and the climate challenges faced by our interconnected society.

* 2022 — Engaging in Global Conversations
SUAVEART’s involvement in international events—including SWAB Barcelona, Jogja Art Weeks, Wagiwagi – Greeting to Nature at documenta 15 (Kassel, Germany), the G20 Summit in Borobudur (Indonesia), the public project for Asia NOW Paris at the Monnaie de Paris, and presentations at the TransCultural Exchange in Boston, Southeast Asian Regional Studies Symposium, and (IM)PACT Symposium—reflects our commitment to advancing dialogue on culture, ecology, and sustainability. Our curated residencies, workshops, and exhibitions at major venues worldwide further demonstrate our dedication to fostering understanding across diverse cultural landscapes.

By embracing a methodology that transcends disciplinary boundaries, SUAVEART contributes to innovation within the arts sector and to meaningful societal progress. We place strong emphasis on social responsibility and uphold a humanistic ethos, recognizing these values as essential bridges to the wider community. Through the transformative work of art, culture, and education, we strive to honor our environmental commitments—cultivating sustainable practices, communities, and organizations that embody cultural innovation and local development.
