SUAVEART concentrates on the cultural value between art and life. Presenting the stories and issues related to “art, life and island”. Creating the borderless dialogues that can be found everywhere in our daily life.

💗 Meet Our Research Partners! ❤️ 🌏

Research often begins with what we choose to notice, and what we are willing to invest ourselves in. Different perspectives not only express our curiosity about understanding the world, but enrich what we learn, drawing on lived experience as a catalyst for thought.

Wheat and rice, these two grains, play indispensable roles in many people’s lives and often become sources of emotional attachment. A day without rice can feel as if one hasn’t eaten at all; likewise, going without noodles may leave the body feeling strangely out of sync.

Moreover, with population movements, human dietary habits have shifted on a global scale. Pre-colonial regional societies developed their own local cultural traditions, many of which have shown remarkable resilience and continue to exert a profound influence on local communities today.

Climate change is an irreversible reality. Yet agricultural irrigation systems nurtured by rivers, civilizational beliefs, and the sustainable development of cities all remain inseparable from the ingredients that travel from farmland to the dining table.

Research-driven Edible Cities, Mobile Rivers is a new experimental attempt by SUAVEART. Building on existing resources and administrative coordination, the project begins by prioritizing the concerns of six researchers—urban, architectural and art historians, and cultural practitioners—focusing on the interwoven transformations of grains and hydrological landscapes. Through fieldwork, interviews, literature review, and writing, the research unfolds.

Looking ahead, we will gradually share more information, articles, and interview records on our website, interspersed with accumulations from everyday life, and we warmly invite you to stay connected and continue engaging with us. 😃

Big thank you to: Angharad Davies, Heather Noble, Martina Leone, Nikita Infantcia Fernandes, Sharo Liang, Yipei Lee, Phylis, Maren and Andrea Izurieta.
