SUAVEART concentrates on the cultural value between art and life. Presenting the stories and issues related to “art, life and island”. Creating the borderless dialogues that can be found everywhere in our daily life.

SUAVEART, a research-based curatorial institution, focuses on environmental, nonhuman perspectives, and nonplace issues within island contexts, exploring the intersection of art and life. Since 2008, our focus has been on Southeast Asian regional contemporary art. Established in Taiwan in 2015, we facilitate experimental cultural exchanges and interdisciplinary collaborations. The curated project footprints are among Taiwan, Singapore, Indonesia, Germany, Switzerland, and others.

Job Description

Invisible Trajectory is an art program explores the intricate dynamics of migrant communities within modern urban environments. After months of research, and residency program in Zurich, we are excited to bring our works to our next destination — London.

We are looking for helpers who are enthusiastic in art, to support the set-up, invigilation, facilitation of the workshop, and takedown of the exhibition on the 15th, 16th, and 18th of November.

As a volunteer, you will:

  • Gain hands-on experience in the logistical aspects of setting up an art exhibition.
  • Learn how to handle and install artworks safely and professionally.
  • Understand the process of preparing an exhibition space, including lighting, audio-visual setup, and spatial organization.
  • Develop skills in engaging with visitors, answering their questions, and providing information about the artworks and the exhibition.
  • Assist in the preparation and facilitation of workshops and events, gaining experience in event management.
  • Connect to the artist and work closely with the producer.

Job Responsibility

Exhibition Setup:

  • Assist in the preparation and setup of the exhibition space.
  • Help arrange lighting, audio-visual equipment, and other necessary installations.
  • Unpack and condition check artworks upon arrival.

Invigilation:

  • Monitor the exhibition space to ensure the safety and security of artworks.
  • Engage with visitors, providing information about the exhibition and the displayed artworks.
  • Answer visitors’ questions and facilitate a positive visitor experience.

Workshop Facilitation:

  • Help prepare with the preparation and running of workshop, such as material preparation, setup, registration, and participant management.
  • Assist in the organization and facilitation of workshops and related events.
  • Support participants during workshops, ensuring an engaging and interactive experience.

Exhibition Takedown:

  • Assist in the careful deinstallation of artworks.
  • Pack artworks securely for transport.
  • Help maintain accurate documentation of artworks and exhibition logistics.

Administrative Support:

  • Assist with administrative tasks related to the exhibition, such as updating records and preparing reports.

Person Specification

Essential

  • Passion for contemporary art and curatorial practices.
  • Reliable and punctual with a proactive attitude.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Physical ability to assist with the setup and takedown of exhibition materials.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Attention to detail and commitment to the care of artworks.
  • Flexibility and willingness to assist with various tasks as needed.

Desirable 

  • Previous experience in art handling, exhibition setup, or related activities.
  • Experience in customer service in similar setting.
